Major Juan D. Mayssonet serves as Chief, National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Quality Engineering Branch, Assured Access to Space, Engineering Division, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He leads an integrated government/contractor team provide quality-related support & advisement to military chief engineers executing a $62.4B space launch program. This support includes directing the review and assessment of manufacturing and production documentation for 3,000 hardware suppliers at 80 locations ensuring that critical NSSL rocket components are built according to certified designs.

Major Mayssonet attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering upon graduating in 2005. Following his commissioning through Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala., Major Mayssonet began his Air Force career at Los Angeles Air Force Base in 2007. During that time, Maj Mayssonet performed duties supporting the Defense Weather Systems Directorate as the Integration and Test Project Engineer, where he led a 50 person government and contractor team in the parallel processing of two $450M weather satellites.

Afterwards, Maj Mayssonet served as Executive Officer, 53d Electronic Warfare Group, 53d Wing, Air Combat Command, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida where he led Group Command Section daily operations recommending and coordinating actions for the mission of electronic warfare support to F-35, F-22, B-2 aircraft and 24 allied nations. Prior to his current position, the major served as the Assistant Operations Officer and Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies for the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 880 at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia instructing, developing, and mentoring 396 cadets to become quality leaders for the United States Air Force.
