X-ray computed tomography (CT) enables us to extract parts’ internal features in a nondestructive fashion. Being able to see inside a product allows for easy validation of parts, identification of design issues, investigation of discrepancies, location of flaws, dimensional inspection, and to identify quality issues quickly and accurately. This presentation gives a review of the use of CT as a three-dimensional measurement technique with particular emphasis on industrial inspection and quality control.
- Understand the advantages that the industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT) technology as a 3-D measurement technique has for quality control.
- Understand how X-ray CT is a tool that enables us to see not only external surfaces but also internal features of an object without cutting / disassembling the sample.
- Hear case studies in which industrial X-ray computed tomography was used to evaluate dimensional information accurately.
